BZC Retreat Event, this Friday & Saturday

This Friday and Saturday, 1-2 May, Baltimore Zen Center will be hosting a retreat focused upon seated Zen meditation. While Zen knows no time, it is helpful for us to pick a day to come together as a group to share our mutual commitment to our practice. We recall the Buddha's awakening during this time and we strive for our own as well as the awakening of all around us.

Beginners are given the opportunity to explore the practice. Experienced practitioners renew our commitment to our continued work; and, if we have been lax, we take this opportunity to move forward correctly with renewed vigor.

Zen sitting sessions are scheduled:
  • Friday, from 7 p.m. to midnight.
  • Saturday, from 7 a.m. to noon.
  • Saturday, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
and will be punctuated with walking meditation, tea, and discussion. Beginners need not fear the long sessions; we will accommodate your level of practice.

Saturday will also have a lunch from noon until 1 p.m. followed by a session of stretching and light exercise (qi gong energy work), highlighting some of the Iron Wheel Boxing curriculum taught at the Zen Center and preparing us for the next sitting session.

Participants and friends are invited to join us for dinner at a nearby restaurant (7 p.m., location to be determined) to mark our success.

Your generosity in supporting the event and our work at Baltimore Zen Center is greatly appreciated. Suggested donations are $20 for one session, $30 for two session, and $40 for all three sessions.

To RSVP or to request further information, please email J.B. Jaeger promptly. The schedule may be adjusted based upon registration.
